Your Company's Investment

GROVEWELL's Global-Mindset Development program is itself under development.  Following is our initial thinking about the investment that a client company would make:
-
-
INVESTMENT OF TIME
-
Some corporations sponsor expatriate assignments abroad for selected managers' developmental growth; these often are 18 months long.  We expect that our program to develop global mindsets will also have a duration of about 18 months...during which time, of course, each participant will remain on the job at his or her usual U.S. worksite.
-
-
INVESTMENT OF FUNDS
-
Our current thinking is that GROVEWELL will request each potential client to state its average total cost to send one of its American managers abroad on a one- to three-year expat assignment [Note].  GROVEWELL will then state to the potential client how many of its managers may participate in this 18-month program for that same dollar investment.  Our current expectation is that the number of participants is likely to be at least six.

Note
-
"Average total cost" means that all attendant costs (not including base U.S. salary) need to be part of the calculation, including (but not necessarily limited to) premium above base salary, goods & services differential, housing differential, relocation allowance, travel costs including for home leaves, shipping costs, income tax adjustments, company car, security costs, cross-cultural training, relocation support, and so forth.

GROVEWELL expects the calculation to be representative of the total for an expatriate without accompanying family during the immediately preceding calendar year.  Mathematical adjustments will be made to obtain, finally, a typical or average total cost of an expatriate on an assignment of about 18 months.
